Glass Works

Whilst I have worked with clay in many ways I have never before considered working with glass. It was only because all the pottery classes were full that I considered enrolling on a fused glass workshop.

I was immediately smitten. I knew about 'hot glass', glass blowing, from my days making turned moulds for Langham Glass in Norfolk.

I Knew about cold glass work, stained glass and glass mosaic making but I knew nothing about 'Warm Glass'.

I had always assumed that glass was 'difficult' as my attempts to cut glass with indifferent quality glass cutters had always been so disappointing.

Using an oil filled glass cutter changed everything. I immediately wanted to experiment.

Others who had taken the workshop a number of times in the past had bought expensive glass stock to work with.

I wanted to find out what I could do with recycled materials first. So I began by cutting up my chipped picture frame glass, float glass, to experiment with that.

These are the results of my first few experiments.

Some, such as White Tree, are works in progress.
